REVOLT IN THE TIME OF PLAGUE PART 1: FLOYD, ASSANGE, A CATALYST FOR NATIONS?
There is a protest happening here in my hometown of Canberra, capital of Australia on Friday June 5 called ‘Black Lives Matter,’ and numbers are predicted to be huge. I absolutely agree that ‘Black Lives Matter’ and as much as I support this protest, I can’t help thinking, what about Julian Assange? The people of Canberra cannot be enticed to come out for him in any great numbers. Julian is still alive (just), we could still save him, will we? Why has the death of Floyd so captured our imagination while Assange has not? Why are most Australians ignoring an Australian journalist who exposed war crimes, the pillage of our financial systems by the oligarchs, and hand in glove with the oligarchs, the development of an unimagined surveillance state that will allow our governments to completely control our every waking moment — where we go, who we associate with, and what we buy?
Having said that, our First Peoples here in Australia have every right to ask “Oh, so you didn’t realise you were living in a brutal and repressive police state until now? Where the bloody hell have you been the last 232 years”? Our first peoples are asking this, and I think the blunt answer has to be, well, it didn’t directly affect me. I didn’t know they would eventually be coming for me. This is our shame, but it is also our call to action. I am hoping that this movement — this protest, will be the catalyst for change, and I mean real change. I think many people realise that even though the murder of George Floyd was the catalyst, this movement MUST be about much more, or we risk going back to exactly where we were before it all started, and I predict these world-wide protests (while we are supposed to be ‘socially distancing’ by the way) will be an excuse to step up control, like the supposed threat post 9/11 convinced us to give up privacy for safety, and our peace for forever wars that enrich the already rich. If not for Snowdon as whistle blower, and Assange as publisher, this illegal intelligence gathering and the corruption and secrecy our governments use to run their business — (for government these days is indistinguishable from big business — it is their business to get richer and control us, and it is our business to serve and enrich them and keep our mouths shut) — we would never know just how our world is really structured.

Today in a UK gaol, the corrupt USA with the assistance of the UK, and with hand-washing Pontius Pilate style by the Australian Government, are determined to murder Julian Assange as they murdered George Floyd.
If we don’t save Assange, a precedent is set that anyone, anywhere in the world, who tells the truth about war crimes and corruption in western countries, will be smeared and persecuted to death. Make no mistake, the death or incarceration of Julian Assange in the USA will be the final death knell to our already shrinking democracy, to a truly free press, and this (Australian) government who have passed around 70 laws over the last few years limiting free speech and freedom to protest will SQUASH ALL other protests, they have already written legislation to do just that.
Police have been issued with military style weapons and armour, including the new sonic weapon that uses sound waves to inflict unbearable pain on crowds to break up protests.
Our rulers obviously expect trouble, and that ‘trouble’ will be us when we quite rightly cannot take any more. Scott Morrison and Peter Dutton through their legislation and comments, have in my opinion, expressed their desire to utterly control us, and are well along the path of doing so.
Like it or not, Julian Assange represents the last vestiges of our democracy at this time, and like Julian, our democracy is dying. Wikileaks’ editor Kristinn Hrafnsson says, “A line has been drawn in the sand, and either you are going to support Julian and fight this retribution and those indictments, or you basically step back and the lights will go out. That’s how serious it is.”

I don’t know Julian, but I have been fighting for him for the last two or so years — I should have been fighting for our democracy long before this, but I was ignorant and naïve — I believed that government was basically good, and there to serve us, oh how foolish I was.
Like many people all over the world — but not enough people yet, my eyes were opened when I read more widely, when I watched main stream media and heard lies, and smear, and propaganda with my own ears — and some of it coming from the ABC I loved.
Assange was too sick to attend court this week, did you know, notice or care?
The very visible death of George Floyd has captured the imagination of millions all over the world — as it should, but when will the hidden slow death and the much wider ramifications of the situation of Julian Assange that has been happening over the last almost 10 years, capture the imagination of millions? Is it that people have believed the clever USA propaganda and smear about sex crimes and endangerment to life spread about by the main stream media? If you have or do believe it, do your homework — both have been utterly discredited.
Australians, if you do nothing else this week, as well as attend protests for George Floyd, and for our own ‘deaths in custody’, for the love of all that is holy, take a moment to do something for Julian Assange. Contact an Assange support group near you on Facebook or Twitter and ask for a reading list, because you will not read the truth in the main stream media. After you do that, start to be more engaged in our political system and search out the truth. As Plato said around 2,500 years ago;
If you do not take an interest in the affairs of your government, then you are doomed to live under the rule of fools.
It is time fellow peasants, to revolt.
